Kylie Hughes, APCC

Hello there, my name is Kylie, and I am a registered Professional Clinical Counselor (#20818) working under the clinical supervision of a licensed therapist.
I obtained my Master’s degree in counseling psychology from Santa Clara University, with an emphasis in Health Psychology. I have been working with children, teens, and adults to support their experiences related to anxiety, depression, trauma, family dynamics, grief & loss, identity, and self-esteem. I have worked in both school and community settings which has nurtured my passion in working with individuals going through different life transitions.
As a former collegiate athlete, sports have always been more than a fitness outlet—they’re a source of community and personal growth. I believe athletics can build confidence, foster belonging, and push us to discover our physical and mental potential. But I also know that the drive to compete can bring pressure, self-doubt, and anxiety. As a therapist, I’m passionate about helping clients, athletes and high performers navigate the mental and emotional challenges that come with sport or performance—from performance anxiety and injury recovery to burnout and identity transitions. My goal is to create a supportive space where clients can develop greater self-awareness, resilience, and tools to thrive.
I incorporate a mindfulness-based, humanistic, and acceptance-driven approach that meets clients where they are and creates a nonjudgmental space for exploring vulnerability. My work is rooted in the belief that growth comes through adaptability, connection, and honoring each person’s unique experience. Inspired by the philosophical idea that “change is the only constant,”I help clients build psychological flexibility to navigate life’s shifts with greater purpose, compassion, and self-awareness.
When we recognize what we’re feeling and why, we gain the ability to respond rather than react. I believe good mental health isn’t about feeling good every day, but about understanding the context of our emotions and learning to respond with self-awareness that aligns with our values. I encourage clients to lean into their inner strengths while also leaning on their village—because resilience isn’t built in isolated comfort, but through shared vulnerability.
